Noise regulations: New regulations restrict the use of horns in cities. The horn can only be used in an emergency. Noisy vehicles are also prohibited on the roads. Vehicles producing excessive noise are prohibited and therefore subject to a penalty.
Seat belt: Wearing a seat belt is mandatory for front and rear seat passengers. Seat belts improve passenger safety in the event of a collision with another vehicle or object.
Use of mobile phones: Using mobile gadgets while driving distracts the driver, leading to accidents. Therefore, anyone caught driving with a mobile phone can be fined AED 800.
Speed limits and risky behavior: Speed limits are enforced in cities and any violation will result in heavy penalties. Drunk driving is prohibited and people driving under the influence of alcohol will be penalized. It is also prohibited to drive in a flooded valley.
