Cleaning Cart Essentials: What’s in Mine

Cleaning Cart Essentials: What’s in Mine

Before I bought my cleaning basket, I kept my cleaning supplies in different places around the house. Some things were under the kitchen sink, others were in the laundry room, and I was constantly running back and forth trying to find everything I needed. If I had a dollar for every turn I made to collect my cleaning supplies, I probably could have paid someone to clean for me.

I finally realized a cleaning basket was the answer (I don’t know why it took me so long?), and today I’m sharing what’s inside mine. I only have the essentials because I stopped buying ten different sprays for the same job. The goal is simple, friends!

My cleaning basket

Before I show what’s inside, I have to say that I don’t like this caddy. It’s a little shallow and the compartments are oddly shaped, so the bottles tip over if they don’t fit properly. It’s a bit boring, but it keeps everything in one place and I can carry it from room to room, so I’m in no rush to replace it.

If you are looking for a cleaning basket, I would recommend purchasing one that is deeper and has better shaped compartments for bottles. I might buy another one eventually, but for now this one is working, until it drives me completely crazy!

What’s inside my cleaning basket

Domestos

My cleaning basket - bottle of Domestos

This bottle of Domestos is the hero! I like that the nozzle is long, which allows me to spray the liquid into all the edges and grooves of the shower. Bleach is fantastic for mold and stubborn dirt. So far the shower has remained mold free for years. Phew!

Bath and shower spray

This citrus bath and shower spray is such a nice change from the heavy duty sprays. It smells fresh and it’s not harsh. You know those cleansers that promise great results but leave you with a chemical taste in the back of your throat? It’s the opposite of that. Cool, light, and it doesn’t make you feel like you have to ditch the bathroom and run outside for some fresh air.

Toilet cleaner

I always choose the tropical flower because it smells the prettiest.

Disinfectant

A splash of this in warm water is perfect for cleaning around cat litter boxes and other cat-related messes – ick! My cats are generally very clean, but you know how cats are. I also use it for general household disinfection.

Floor cleaner

This is a great low cost floor cleaner that cleans floors, that’s all I really need. Oh, and it smells great too, with a subtle fresh scent.

Savvy

in my shopping cart, a pot of courage

Gumption is perfect for cleaning our master bathroom shower floor. We have one of those plastic floors that no spray will do the job on. Sometimes you just can’t escape the Cinderella method on your knees.

Cloths and gloves

inside my cleaning basket, rags and gloves

My cleaning cart also contains rags for cleaning bathrooms and general dusting, as well as a pair of rubber gloves to protect my hands.

And that’s what I keep in my cleaning basket. All the basics, nothing more – nothing more would do anyway, which is probably a good thing for someone like me who likes to keep things minimal. The caddy helps me stick to my simple cleaning routine, doing a little each day to stay on top of things and aim for the ultimate goal of having nothing to do on the weekend. It’s a big goal that I haven’t achieved yet, because there’s always something to do, right?
